Dare County Arts Council is partnering with local galleries and businesses to celebrate the artistic community on Hatteras Island at the fifth annual Rock The Cape Festival June 17-24.
The weeklong celebration features family-friendly, community-oriented activities including a self-guided gallery tour, an art show, live music every day at various venues on the island, and more.
Rock the Cape’s kickoff party will be held Monday, June 19 at Turner’s HIgh Moon Bar & Lounge from 6:30-8:30pm. The party will include music by DJ Robbie Love, free appetizers, as well as the unveiling of Turner’s brand new mural at 8pm. This is the perfect opportunity for Hatteras Island artists, gallery owners, art enthusiasts, and visitors to mingle and support the island’s creative community. “Turner’s HIgh Moon Bar & Lounge is excited to host the kickoff party for Rock the Cape on June 19,” said owner of Turner’s HIgh Moon Bar & Lounge Dottie Reed. “In the three years we have been operating in Downtown Avon, we have participated in raising funds for a variety of community programs and we are thrilled to add Rock the Cape to our dance card. Supporting Hatteras Island’s arts and culture is a privilege and we invite all to come out to help kick off a week of fun and festivities. We’ll be serving up food, music and our usual southern hospitality.”

Bring swimsuits and floats to join the fun. Admission is $10 at the door and food and drinks will also be available for purchase. On Wednesday, June 21, make reservations at The Inn on Pamlico Sound and dine on the dinner deck at Café Pamlico while enjoying acoustic music by Chad Bennett.
